Ask for Jane

Writer-director Rachel Carey's film is effective in its depiction of a pre-Roe vs. Wade America and its horrors for women, despite its often-clumsy script and amateur production values.

The story demands to be told and seen by the widest audiences possible.

Ask for Jane has the look and feel of a Lifetime movie. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's certainly not an Oscar-caliber film.

It felt almost like you're reading a sixth grade sex-ed primer in terms of the way it hit every conceivable cliché.

Ask For Jane depicts an important chapter in history and reminds us why women risked so much to help one another at a very dark and dangerous time.

It's not the content that's objectionable. It's the crudely pedagogical manner in which it's presented.
