What is this? Script is so cringe. Acting is terrible. Does anyone actually believe that Chastain would be an assassin? Bad casting. A literal line from the movie “keep your head down and powder dry” LOL what is this the 1700s?! Skip!

They're lucky I can't give this move negative stars. I enjoy strong female protagonists but this story is so unacceptably bad it defies belief. I understand the writer wanted to humanize Ava, give her everyday foibles, family trauma, and a massive vice to overcome. But these combined flaws are exactly what would make someone ineffective as an operative, you can't have it both ways. Generally, the plot points are dumb and I couldn't care less about any of the characters, much less the protagonist. What a waste of a decent cast.

An assassin with alcohol issues, family issues, relationship issues, work issues... she's got issues. A sound structure keeps it together but the family and personal issues outweigh the assassinating issues. The moral of the story really seemed to be ‘assassins are people too' and that has been done before but this was just too serious and with a plot that just got weaker as things went.

Starts off pretty good, then halfway it develops into family drama... but the worst part is the third act: SPOILERS: Not only the questions about the reason for the assassinations that started all the story is unanswered but are we to believe that the head of an international spy organization is going to attack their most value asset... by himself? with no backup? and the after the poorly choreographed fights, he just decides to take a walk on the park? injured and bloody as he is? he didn't have a car waiting for him? How could Jessica Chastain, an accomplished and talented actress, agree to this project? did she even read the script? I give this movie ONE star out of 5 *

It is really not a movie, it is only called a 'movie!' Now, I better understand why the old timers like John Malkovich and Geena Davis take part in 'movies' like this, which add up to nothing but embarrassments for them -- take the money and run!

Wow this is bad. Never mind all the stupid plot holes and waste of some big names who seemed to plain just not care... you have to LIKE the protagonist. And she is just a whiney boozy homewrecker.

I loved this movie! I don't know why anyone would find anything boring about the movie. Maybe the so-called-critics are just idiots who only think a movie is good if it has some sex scenes between anyone except a married, heterosexual couple or, the story is about the fictional mistreatment of some non-heterosexual person or group or, about the plight of some non-Caucasian person or group. I am so sick of the liberal, white heterosexual male hating and blame for all of society's problems. Thye need to understand that white happens to be a color too, and white people have the same kind of struggles as others. They were not all born rich, and they are discriminated against the same as everyone else. Even a monkey could be a critic. He will choose one banana over another. That doesn't mean that the other banana is bad. It appears that the only "critics" being paid attention to or that have a platform are people who only judge films through their narrow personal biases and wishes that all movies suit their agenda. These are the type of people who want to ban books like Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn from schools but want books that teach that kids should question their gender or sexual preferences and that they may be abnormal if they are simply the gender they were born as or are heterosexual. We now live in a world where none of the great movies of the past would have won any awards or even been accepted as worth watching because they did not follow an agenda of hate against normal behavior or the white race. When I see people of all races and circumstances studying hard and prospering, it is not hard to understand that the problems that are blamed on one race are really individual failures to work hard and not to just sit around waiting for someone to hand them what everyone else is working hard to obtain. I also don't know what special rights these people think they should be entitled to. Everyone has the same rights. They just have to play by the same rules and laws as everyone else and work hard and not give up. They need to quit making children that they will not support and be good parents and citizens. Then, if anyone treats them badly, they can gripe about that individual but not everyone who happens to look like that person. I happen to be mostly white but part Choctaw "Indian". I have been discriminated against by persons of all races, ages and people who just didn't like something about me such as a beard, hair length, freckles, etc... I did not just lay down and whine about it. I just worked hard to provide for my family and did my best. What are we going to do, just make movies that these idiots approve of. What happened to wanting to just watch a movie to escape for a short time and eat some popcorn and maybe feel happy or sad or laugh or see some robots being blown up. The audience is the real critics. If they like a movie or don't like it, they will let it be known by their attendance, not because some person with an agenda told them it was good or bad. This movie was exactly what it set out to be and has a good story, engaging characters, plenty of action and a great cast. What could the critics possibly have to gripe about. If they want to only see their kind of movies, they should only watch that type and criticize them, and leave the rest for the majority of people who just want to be entertained not preached to about stupid social issues. Nuff Said!

Ava plays the traditional assassin's story well. While the action is standard, I appreciate how this film gives the character behind the assassin a personal treatment, even if it's not as deep as some other films do.

Had all the elements for a great action flick - great actors, cool skills and effects, but it got lost along the way. Didn't quite come together.
