The plot bummed me out. Oh, the same bad guy from last time is back? You had an avatar clone plotline this whole time and it took this long. Man what a let down.

Absolutely horrible movie. Such a weak plot and grossly cruel and unimaginative acting.

Avatar: The Way of Water truly blew me away with its quality. The story was beautifully crafted, my heart strings were being pulled many times, the CGI is insane and the action is so good. Keep it up James Cameron

it's a beautiful concept and the lovely people and colours and effects visually stunning and nice music but it's ruined by the american war thing destroying these lovely people too gun ho for me i really hated when the soldiers come in and hurt them and they are so american army types it makes americans look really bad . i wouldn't like this film at all if i were american either its very condescending of them as people

The primary strength of the initial Avatar film definitely wasn't its narrative (a futuristic retelling of Pocahontas, etc. - I'd rate it an 8), so I wasn't anticipating a complex storyline or anything substantial. As anticipated, the plot isn't noteworthy or remarkable. The Way of Water isn't a bad experience; the effects are good, production quality is excellent. I'd venture to say that if you enjoyed the first one, you'll probably like this one too. Overall, I was entertained, but there were some drawn-out parts; some trimming (as seen in many current productions) could have enhanced The Way of Water. The novelty seen in films like the original Matrix, Sin City, and Avatar is missing - it's predictable. I must admit, at times I was a bit bored, feeling like I was watching a (well-crafted) video game cinematic. In my view, the media tends to overly praise this work by James Cameron, much like they did with Denis Villeneuve's Dune remake. Eye-catching? Yes. Cinematic masterpieces? No.

I’m really pissed off at James Cameron for making the sequel like this I mean I love the extended version of this movie but I really don’t understand why did he to cut off the violence in this movie and made Jake sully such a terrible father and a coward in this movie instead of keeping the violence and make Jake a worrier and kill all of the humans at bridgehead city then if would have gotten better reviews I really hope to god Avatar 3 and the other sequels have more violence otherwise I’m not watching these movies anymore.

Welp, should have seen the unnecessary sequel coming. Not much unlike the first one, this movie is just James Cameron projecting his conservativeness over the silver screen, literally. Almost every aspect of this movie is worse than the first one, and there is a lot of unrelated story writing as if it was written just to get enough content for a sequel. I can't call it effortless or terrible but ultimately, it failed to keep me invested and caring about the characters and story.

Thirteen years later, Cameron returns with a trilogy that has now expanded into five movies. This is a straightforward retelling of the original story, for a new set up that will hopefully be amazing somewhere in the future. However, it is evident that this movie primarily serves as a reintroduction to the characters who will play a central role in the upcoming three films.
