One of the most overrated movies of all time, I enjoy almost everything to some degree, this one sucked the life out of me

A fun, enjoyable film, with a good cast

80's movies seem to have this tone with a lot of dry humor and just really random moments that work. This one was not what I was expecting based on the title, and it was really funny!

Not funny. Not witty. Just stupid.

35 years later and still one of Tim Burton's best One of his kookiest and funnier films Love this big cast of Michael Keaton, Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin, Catherine O'Hara, Jeffrey Jones, and a young Winona Ryder The film is a mixture of delightful glee and moody morbidity A great combination of stop motion animation, prosthetics, and puppetry This also creates a giant mythology for this world Burton has concocted It's being an extension of mundane earthbound issues The music by Danny Elfman is also pure gold adding to the visual aesthetic and kooky charm Beetlejuice himself is crude and detestable but very funny in doing so Not the most likable specter but easy to laugh at The bond Lydia shares with the couple is sweet plus many relate to her being a misfit or non-conformist It shows the director having an uncanny sense how to portray those society mostly overlooks, showing their value and capacity for compassion It remains an example of Burton's directorial style and tone for future projects The countryside setting also balances the gruesome tone despite several scenes clearly not for younger audiences Yes there are themes of suicide, depression, and murder but colorful moments manage to not make the movie too gruesome Still a very good supernatural comedy despite the rules being split and it showcases Michael Keaton being very versatile

Wierd but well done and creepy, although I'm a little worried about how the sequel is going to go. Building on a classic is hard but let's wait and find out.

I liked this movie, it had a good storyline and is a classic. Although it's just not scary, I really loved this.

Michael Keaton is a great actor and gave a GREAT and memorable performance, and you don't quite believe that it was him for a minute when he's first on screen but it really was! And he's only in like half of it! The movie has a simple but original premise that works well and the practical effects were very impressive. Tim Burton is a talented director with unique vibes as well and this was a great warm up for Batman a year later! Michael Keaton could've almost played the Joker instead of Batman! Winona Ryder was good in her role as well and this movie made me like her as an actress. I can see why this movie has received praise!
