This is one of the most beautiful stories I've watched and listened to. The film shares much more than could be reasonably expected and imparts a depth of humanity often missing from the lives of the people who pass through not only this man's life but fleetingly through our own.

A stunning work from Davies. The agonizing march of time is so clearly realized here and Sasson's poetry perfectly punctuates several sequences.

This movie was very good in the context of a war film. I find that many war films are either too heavy on violence or the emotional side of things, but I found that this movie combined these two concepts beautifully! Very pleased with the outcome of this film

Why did it take a hundred years to make this heroic artist known in this filmographic suit to the global audience it deserves? Would it be because of the war policies of the rest of the century, NATO...., and policies of pre emptive war mongering of NATO ministers...U.S. presidents, UK prime ministers post WWII...Heath, MacMillan, Nixon, KISSINGER, Thatcher, Bushes, Blair, Reagans, Bidens, Obama, Gordon Brown, John Majors, Clinton, etc, ad nauseum and the non-stopping the same wasted organic chemical CIA rot-jaw in the Ukraine? Thanks for Siegfried Sassoon; all is NOT QUIET on the global genocidal western front ! Think it: covert fascist military juntas in the UK and USA will not prevail eternally! 1

Serious historical movie with great acting. Makes me want to know more about the characters.

Overall, those who enjoy drama and war films will find enjoyment here. Β It's well-acted and well shot, and the story about the poet Siegfried Sassoon's world is quite interesting and insightful.Β  The sets and costumes are pleasing, and actor Jack Lowden is outstanding as the lead.Β  However, the romance aspects come across as more predictable, and the duration overstays its welcome.Β  As a Biography, it's certainly worth a look, but naturally, it's more fitting to a select few.

Superb, cinema at its best, absolutely loved this film from beginning to end. It was a joy to watch but also so heartfelt, you really got a sense of the characters and the acting was marvelous.

Despite its self-indulgence there are several scenes that resonate. The theme may be muddled with over explanation, but the acting works for the time. When the time period shifts, so does the mood of the film. The period shifts and how they would just happen at first were enjoyable, but overall didn't work. Why do so many things boil down to PTSD? A biopic of Siegfried Sassoon at the core, but the film feels like gaywashing. The scene could not have been this available. Jack Lowden is fantastic in the lead and there's a wonderful ensemble cast, but in the end of the day this is a take it or leave it. At well over two hours, the film could have been tighter or ended a scene or two earlier. Too little is known about the backstory of the character to care about the character in his twilight years. Well-made and easy on the eyes, but missable! Final Score: 5.7/10

Benediction is a 2021 biographical drama film written and directed by Terence Davies 🎭 It's ok, but I feel mixed about this one πŸ˜‰ I'd recommend it if you like this genre, but if not then probably give it a miss πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘ŽπŸΌ S LOVE IS NEVER STILL The story of soldier and poet Siegfried Sassoon (1886–1967), who was decorated for bravery on the Western Front, and is best remembered for his angry and compassionate poems about the First World War, which brought him public and critical acclaim. Avoiding the sentimentality and jingoism of many war poets, Sassoon wrote of the horror and brutality of trench warfare and contemptuously satirised generals, politicians, and churchmen for their incompetence and blind support of the war.
