Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F
audience Reviews
, 76% Audience Score- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsThis was actually good. Like I felt I was watching a good sequel to Beverly Hills Cop. Some of the parts were cheesy as they try to tie back to the only films, but for the most part this was awesome.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsHope will see more of these soon
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsGreat to see Foley, Taggart and Rosewood back in action together after all these years.. still fun and exciting
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsWas great action and fun to see old faces. Much better than the 3rd film .
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsBeverly Hills Cop: Axel F is determined to return to the 1980s era of action films. Since I grew up watching most of these movies in their reruns during the 1990s, I found myself feeling nostalgic for this kind of “simple minded” cinema. Make no mistake, the jokes are high-brow—so much so that some take a minute to sink in, you might find yourself laughing after the fact. And what about Eddie Murphy? Like Jim Carey or Adam Sandler, he’s almost his own genre of performance that it’s hard to compare his seasoned comedic chops to anyone other than Eddie Murphy himself. Which is to say, how does this compare to other Beverly Hills Cop films? Well, it doesn’t quite reach the thrills of the first, but doesn’t seem as stalled out as the third entry. It exists somewhere in-between, and for this reviewer that’s good enough to recommend for the throwback thrills.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsA very fun Movie to watch, I mean it isn't really different to the first or 2nd one but it definitely has some better and more improved action and stunts, I kind of expected a little better of the reunion of the original cast but it was still nice seeing them on set together, overall this was a very fun movie to watch and probably is one of the best one out of all 4 movies.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsBeverly Hills Cop: Axel F (7/10) A pretty fun legacy sequel 30 years later after the last sequel. The callbacks were fun with the returning cast members, running gags, truck chase sequences, and music tracks (with some nice remixes). Still plenty of high energy during the action chase sequences. Eddie Murphy's still got it and is running circles around the rest of the cast. Unfortunately the movie acves into the increasingly common trope of legacy Sequels where they feel the need to pad put the runtime with petty parental melodrama, where the legacy character spends. Decent chunk of the love getting yelled at by their estranged child for vague abandonment issues that occurred offscreen (less investment gor the audience, but less groundwork for the writers). Don't get me wrong, axe-crazy Axel would make a terrible father and I'm not surprised his daughter has beef with him. But it's just feels cookie-cutter and whiny with the dialogue and gets really forced at some points, not helped by the daughter's boring acting direction that totally drags down the movie. Which is all shame. Since Axel's reckless shenanigans are definitely worth calling out. This subplot iisn't terrible (I've definitely seen worse versions of this new trope), but it is the weak part of the movie. But luckily the rest of the movie is pretty solid. Kevin Bacon is having a lot of fun as the villain and Joseph Gordon Levit is a nice addition with some decent chemistry with Eddie Murphy (hell, much more chemistry than his own daughter). The retuning characters are nice to see, even if their roles feel too short. Nasim Pedrad was also very funny as the catty realtor. The action sequences keep up the hilarious and frantic momentum of the previous installments. And just like Part II, the climax's final shootout feels a tad rushed. But the movie ends on a cute note and the whole package left a good taste in my mouth as a nice final sendoff for the series.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsIt's a reheated meal - but Eddie still satisfies. Peppered with nostalgia and tunes, it's a slapstick formula that still works.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsIt was nice to see Eddie Murphy return to the role of Axel Foley in Beverly Hills cop Axel F. He was classic Eddie Murphy and he fit the role perfectly as an older more experienced cop with the same antics of his sleeve.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI wasn't sure what to expect when I started to watch the movie, but the laughs came quickly in an unexpected way which was great. Obviously it's a nostalgia trip, and the ending was a bit light, but I really enjoyed it right the way through.
