The problematic phrase “guilty pleasure” will just about do for Halina Reijn’s Bodies Bodies Bodies, the kind of horror parody so edgy it practically slices and dices itself.

The fun, of course, is in the pillory, yet the (deliberately) loathsome nature of the characters soon becomes draining.

For those who don’t fully appreciate its distinct brand of humor, there’s still enough of a twisty, turny good time to make it worthwhile, although the charm wanes fairly quickly.

Put a group of wealthy, narcissistic Gen Z friends in a large, remote estate filled with drugs and staircases in the middle of a hurricane and see what your outcome is.

Although some of the jokes attached to the script might not hit in full force as much as the writers tended to, the rest uplifts it, making it a worthwhile bloody good time.
