Bros

For the most part, it works rather well – a ribald and riotous onslaught of bracing humour which belies a sweetly soft centre.

It’s a proper, laugh-out-loud comedy which have you gasping for breath one minute and hands clapped over your mouth the next – yes, they went there.

Bros fails to satisfactorily map out its own space. Passes the time well enough. Doesn’t quite pull down the barriers.

It makes for a somewhat overloaded movie, sometimes very funny, sometimes with a sense of items being ticked off an agenda, sometimes emotionally a bit routine... All up, though, this is a major leap forward.

Queer love stories are every bit as individual as heterosexual ones, and we deserve to see them on screen, but can certainly aim a little higher than this smug, unsatisfying mismatch of ideas.

It’s distinctly smug about pitching itself as a landmark, while being really more of a setback, and a pretty low bar for the next one to surmount.

While the film does a fine job taking romantic comedy tropes and giving them the gay treatment, they remain tropes.

Bros is a genuine, authentic, insanely hilarious breath of fresh air. Clever satirical comedy rips out loud back-to-back laughs throughout the entire runtime without ever causing viewers to lose their ear-to-ear smile.

A down right heartfelt, hilarious, & most importantly RAUNCHY! They truly don’t make films like this anymore & Bros breaks through as a must watch! Billy is perfect, Luke is a revelation, & Stoller is back with one of his best.

Bros stands alone as an honest and funny depiction of two cis gay men not sure of what they’re looking for. They just know they don’t want to do it alone. It is laugh-out-loud funny at a time when we desperately need to be laughing in a movie theater.
