Butchers

Despite Phillips' cleaver-wielding swagger... Butchers is pretty much dead meat, an amalgam of worn-out tropes unsuccessfully zombified to life.

Butchers doesn't do anything else aside from causing a queasy stomach, and for many will just be another slow and anti-climactic gory flick with boring protagonists and one dimensional villains.

While it won't win any awards for originality, it's a fun watch for those with a stomach and in the mood for another 'hillbillies with a cannibal brother' flick.

One to watch if you really, really wish there were more hillbilly horror films, or if you have a bingo card of horror tropes handy. Otherwise, not.

A gory trudge through horror tropes, entirely lacking in any sense of gleeful malevolence or gritty thrills. Damningly, it just sort of exists.

Butchers is watchable, but it really doesn't bring anything new to the genre so some fans may be disappointed if the synopsis drew them in.

Butchers has some interesting new ideas and pushes the genre into some exciting directions. It tries hard to rise above its genre cliches, but doesn't quite succeed.
