Slightly more entertaining than reality shows dealing with ghosts and ghost hunting.

I put on random horror movies while I do computer work at home and sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised. I thought, "CMM and Danielle Harris? Awesome!" Nope, not here! On top of the terrible camera work and special effects, the ending was a huge disappointment. Conclusion? Only good for background noise. Othereise, don't waste your time with this one.

Reality tv is a small niche now for tv viewers but there's only so much to cover when it's not popular, scary or convincing anymore Then comes along the Camp Cold Brook house Camp Cold Brook is supposedly haunted In 1990 the local church shut it down and no newspapers were allowed to write about it because of something ominous that happened Chad Michael Murray is a successful horror reality show producer, Jack with a wife and two daughters He's always had a fascination with ghosts yet he has yet to see one for real Currently Jack is on his show's third season but he and his crew need something concrete to secure their success if they want to stay on the air That's where Camp Cold Brook comes in; seems like the perfect opportunity for Jack and his camera crew to get the appropriate amount of shocks, after all a mass murder took place 20 years ago on the property But as soon as the cameras start rolling the real hauntings take hold This is a combination of found footage and actual film Thankfully the video camera footage isn't that annoying shaky cam gimmick that give viewers motion sickness Ironically the film itself relies more on hand-held techniques This acts as a switch of sorts which is kinda cool There's a good amount of mood and atmosphere in this and some jolting music to heighten the intensity The final act reveals a big secret which I admit was pretty smart and the ending delivers quite the shocker of an ending Definitely makes this type of horror genre interesting again even if it's lacking much originality Murray and Harris are very-well acted and this pacing is solid Not groundbreaking in terms of slashers, witchcraft or found footage storytelling but still spooky

Cheap scares, just another B rated cookie cutter horror film

This was a surprisingly good movie. Well made and with decent performances, I found it to be a fun little flick with some actual scares to its credit.

Well made with a strong cast, surprisingly fun.

The cast is fun, and it's got a cool set up, showing a TV crew get desperate for ratings, but it's all just such a cliche, formulaic haunting movie, that it doesn't leave much of an impression.

Chad Micheal Murray and Danielle Harris star in this supernatural thriller produced by Joe Dante. This movie was very cliche and really has nothing we haven't seen before but the actors were game and didnt phone it in and the story was fun to watch play out. If you're a horror veteran you'll see the twist coming as I did but it still wasnt a bad film to throw on if you need something new.

A great jump scare movie with a twist just obvious enough and just far enough into the movie to give you the delicious satisfaction of predicting the ending right before you get confirmation. CMM is heartfelt and awesome, Reid is a great foil and committed skeptic for the cast, Harris is the 'wtf is wrong with you all' dramatics every ghost-hunting-turned-real movie needs and De Visser blends well with CMM's cool&collected. Honestly the only things I could point as less-than-stellar are 1. no one would so calmly walk through a wall of spiderwebs (I'm looking at you De Visser) and 2. there's a few different times where a character will leave to walk from point A to point B within the camp and they leave in full daylight and cut scene to them arriving at point B in spooky nighttime and you're like 'damn how long you been walking dude??' but other than that I think this is a great jump scare thriller with a present but easy plot to enhance the jumps. 10/10 recommend.
