The more I watch this movie, the more I love it. I understand that for many of the actors on this film, it was their first time acting and I think this gave it a very natural and realistic feel. Watching the main characters fall in love and the on screen chemistry between them just makes you feel happy and hopeful. The soundtrack is just so beautiful and romantic. The backdrop of history and culture is very interesting and inspired me to want to know more. This piece of nostalgia has become one of my favorites.

A very thoughtful, involving, and honest movie about a romantic relationship between two Black people struggling with their differences of class and skin color. This is a theme most whites cannot understand and that may make some Black audiences uncomfortable. Aside from the fact that this was produced and directed by Blacks, perhaps that's one reason why it was ignored and forgotten. The one criticism I would make is that Tommye Myrick far outshines Richard Romain in acting ability. She is lively, he is stiff. Otherwise I would have given it four stars. Nonetheless, definitely worth watching.
