Captive

Being mostly a two-hander, Tori Kostic and William Kircher have to be consistently good, so it's great to be able to say that they are fantastic. The dynamic between the pair is electric and leads the way brilliantly to its startling climax.

I've had my fill of films about men capturing women. This one definitely came at the model from a different angle, though. One to watch if you get the chance, before you hear much more about it.

An unsettling, claustrophobic, and intense viewing experience, Captive draws you in and holds you in place up until its finale, which will leave you spiralling.

The interplay between these two characters outlines both the trap - and the internal contradictions - of patriarchy, in a film whose cat-and-mouse tensions and power games take on an increasingly psychological dimension.

Between the attempts to escape and the different twists, "Captive" is therefore a very good thriller.
