Child's Play

I think they made a lot of good reasons for this [remake] to exist.

Overall, this is a fun 90 minutes, if you are into this sort of thing.

At the very least, it achieves the baseline desire of a horror reboot: it's fun, it's scary, and it doesn't trample all over a legacy.

Even Aubrey Plaza and the voice of of Luke Sywalker (OK, it's Mark Hamill) as devil doll Chucky, can't save this botched reboot.

Aimed squarely at the late-night Friday night crowd, in its own right Child's Play 2019 is unexceptional.

"Child's Play" is good humored and gratuitously gory but feels rushed, and oddly contained to its small world.

In a nutshell it isn’t serious enough. It isn’t funny enough. It isn’t self-aware enough. Worst of all, it isn’t the slightest bit scary.

A reboot that takes a big chance in actually updating the story in ways that make sense and offer lots of possibilities, but has so much else that goes wrong that the final product ends up being a wash.

Part cautionary tale about technological integration, part commentary on the destructiveness of youth culture, Child's Play does neither very well, but it's a worthwhile horror movie.

Basically what I'm saying is if you squint a lot there's a lot to see in the movie's fuzzy mayhem
