one of Depps career best performance, wrongly maligned by the idiot critics and loved by the movie going folks

Nice, ending was bit odd but it was very enjoyable.

Whatever interesting or relevant commentary the movie tries to get across gets lost among a myriad of cop movie clichés.

The critics didn't do this film justice. It was excellent and the portrayal couldn't have been better told.

This document is much more than a film. It is a document WITNESS of the only law that rules the world of the Apocalypse, the world of the Devil. America reveals itself to the world in its dirty emptiness. Democracy proves to be the worst form of leadership for human society. The lie dominates the whole society, as the title of the film announces. The more justice, police and security services, THE MORE injustice, theft, and crime. The more army and weaponry, the less PEACE. The more democracy, the more subtle the dictatorship. Even sadder is that the situation is, in one form or another, the same all over the world, at least in the entire human universe... USA, RUSSIA, ISRAEL, ENGLAND, FRANCE and their satellites and subjects are the real devils of the Apocalypse... About the director, screenwriters, and actors, from very good to incomparable. Thanks to the entire team that made this CONFESSION of the TRUTH...and that makes me believe all the more in the statement of the divine messages: THE TRUTH WILL REVEAL! Thank you God bless! May God forgive those who fell victim to the devil's war on earth!

A bit boring, sudden ending with no conclusion, you are better off watching an actual documentary.

I thought the movie was great! I'm really confused why critics have given it such a low score. It was interesting to watch. Certainly not riveting, but it's not that type of story. I had no idea what it was about save for the fact that it stars Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker, but that was enough for me. Had I known the subject matter, I probably wouldn't have watched it not being a big rap fan, but I'm delighted I did. It was a really eye-opening story.

    It's interesting story

The film itself is not bad, but the subject matter and genre, as well as the overall feeling, are a bit darker for mass leisure and entertainment, and are not very friendly to the general public. Only viewers who like this kind of theme that digs out the ugly side of society can enjoy it more.

"City of Lies" is a gritty and intense crime drama that explores the unsolved murder of rapper Notorious B.I.G. Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker give strong performances, but the convoluted plot may leave viewers feeling unsatisfied.
