This movie is an alright watch. The main problem is there is no much context to why is all that happening and feels like the main bunch moving from a war movie set to another and it's hard to empathize with anything. Movie totally enjoyable but nothing that will leave you wandering about the scenario or being a war photographer

I'll admit that I really enjoyed the original "Red Dawn" and still would rewatch it, but as much as this movie kind of reminds me of that... this one left me glad to leave the theater. It's not just that the politics, alliances, and actions surrounding the larger plot make no sense and seem to have been generated by the same manatee's that pump out episodes of Family Guy. It's not just the complete lack of any recognizable above the level of the Grade B supporting actors who made up the cast (at least Red Dawn had an amazing array of new talent not much seen before and used to good effect). It's not just the predictability of much of the events in which major characters were killed off in ways that generated no pathos. It's not that it seemed to aggressively avoid special effects as if it were working on a budget defined by somebody's MasterCard limit. It's all this and more, which left me feeling as if I had just watched a patchwork of drug-induced apocalypse fantasies, almost like a dream, but one that just kept assaulting me with unbelievable situation after situation.

Not enough information on the conflict. Missing character depth. Awesome concept, just poor execution.

The trailer makes this movie seem totally different than it is. You’re thrown into the middle of a storyline with hardly any background information on what is going on. Depressing, boring, and really bad writing. One of the worst movies I’ve seen in awhile.

As a character study with some deep, thought-provoking questions being raised, the movie excels thanks to its well-rounded cast. However, as a movie titled "Civil War", there is a disappointing amount of actual Civil War that is present. The main antagonist is also extremely underdeveloped and didn't get much screentime. Overall, still a good movie, just disappointing considering the premise.

So boring and terrible. Waste of time. Couldn't even finish this snoozefest.

Some flash, but not much substance

Interesting. Thought provoking. Beautifully shot. What happens when America breaks into a Civil War? Its not about the why, its about viewing the aftermath like a photo journalist. Two perspectives the jaded pro contrasted with the youngsters wide eyed horror.

On a 2nd viewing, this fucking juggernaut of a masterpiece is even better than it was the first time around. The combined result of being an A24 film from a prolific non-American writer/director is what keeps the subject matter of Civil War completely devoid of every cynical, blatant, stupid, manipulative, domestic Hollywood trope that I fucking despise. It’s now one of my all-time favorite films. Yeah, I said it; I’d give it 6 stars if I could. In my opinion, there isn’t going to be a better film in 2024 – so now I can just stop prioritizing trips to the theater for the rest of the year, and instead return to hyperfocusing on my own projects. Thanks, Civil War 👍
