Clean

[A] Taxi Driver wannabe. It’s not even close, obviously, to the Scorsese classic, but it’s perfectly serviceable entertainment with a moody, brooding heart.

Our hero barely says much at all, leaving it to Brody to do a lot of acting with those big sad eyes. It makes the film feel a bit like a silent movie but not one of the good ones.

Every great actor wants his chance to be Clint Eastwood...Sadly, these stark textures never redeem the film's tired savior narrative, which would-be poignant moments gesture towards inverting...

Merely watching Brody engaging in such painstaking work is interesting; the generic bloodbath that ensues, less so.

"Clean" is so lean, it's as if the story itself was sacrificed for atmosphere... narratively, it's a mess.

"Clean" doesn't aim high, it aims low, but it hits its target square-on, and its murky depictions of gut-churning violence don't wash away easily.

Clean is something you will definitely have a lot of fun with. This is a very dark film and at times it can down right tragic where the narrative flowers, but I do think its worth watching for stunts, choreography, intensity and acting from Brody sells it

The plot simply follows the same trajectory as every other redemption-revenge movie, which may be fine for casual viewers. But anyone wanting something pointed or meaningful will be disappointed.

The action, when it comes, is introduced with an impact that will make you drop your popcorn, and you’ll be on the edge of your seat for what follows.
