Overall, this film is a mixed bag for me.  I loved the film's premise, concept, and cast.  The film's plot is bland, and I never felt entirely invested.  With a slow start and unusual pacing between scenes, Come Away is a drama film with fantasy but lacks the real magic that could have been.  Even with excellent performances, particularly from the young child actors, Come Away will undoubtedly touch hearts, but only briefly, unlike a good fairy tale.

Imagery and acting were beautiful, but it did not follow a typical plot. There was no sense of resolution at the end. I was left thinking "so what happened"?

Jolie should give back her Oscar after this ! Frozen on the verge of dying acting...

Maybe had a great potential but it fails. Warning: Spoilers SPOILER WARNING- This movie was okay. But, I do not think it should be rated PG. Mostly because of the topics. 1) Rose (Angelina Jolie) turns to alcohol to deal with the grief of her son, David (Reece Yates). Young kids who see this will think of alcohol as a way to cope with stressful situations which is not something you would want to promote in a children's movie. 2) Then, Alice (Keira Chansa) finds the bottle in her mother's drawer and proceeds to drink what's left in the bottle causing her to feel dizzy and end up in a new world (kind of like being drunk). Keep in mind, Alice is only eight. She uses this "potion" as an escape (she even says "Take me away" before she drinks it). I did enjoy the movie, but I don't think the rating is appropriate. I also don't really think the movie's target audience's age (most likely younger children as it is fantasy and has Peter Pan and Alice) would understand the topics being discussed (the father's issues as an example). And it kind of put a tragic spin on childhood favorites if I'm going, to be honest. Basically, there were a lot of non-child friendly topics (i.e; alcoholism, gambling, fraud, torture, etc.). There also was not much magic/fantasy in it. The themes were depressing and tragic. Also, if you think about the ending, Peter most likely ended up running away from home and living in the streets with the gang they met previously. It went from imagination to hallucinations in my opinion. Otherwise, it was a decent movie. Great acting and cinematography.

It was a good movie overall and a different take on familiar children's classics like Peter Pan & Alice in Wonderland. The problem is that there are holes in the storyline that keep you guessing and wondering as it seemed incomplete unless there is a sequel.
