Probably one of the most disoriented story about how the only way for poor people to succeed is through violence and sacrifice.

I Get That It Is Built Around Low Socio-Economic Dysfunction. The Story Is So All Over The Place & Full Of Misplaced Violence That You Loose Any Commitment To Seeing It Thru. I Only Watched it In Parts...To See It Thru Etc.

Don't bother. I don't know how this made it's way into my Netflix dvd queue. I've resolved to scrub my Netflix dvd queue with a look at how 'the crowd' has rated these films.

I can't say that the movie is bad ... But the movie is very cruel! I think now in this hard time, such films are not needed ... Films should give some kind of hope. There is complete hopelessness here ...

It doesn't really get interesting until the first fight scene; most of the film has a plot that doesn't really go very well. The actual ''donnybrook'' is at the end. Not terrible, but it could have been a lot better.

I have never seen a film go so far out of its own way to waste its genuinely interesting lead characters. Though Donnybrook aims to build to a crescendo of violence in its character focused tale of societal desolation, all it manages to accomplish is a nonexistent story, an inexcusably underwhelming climax, and absolutely zero satisfying resolution for any of its characters. The brilliant cinematography and terrific acting on display make this film all the more disappointing.

Terrible writing no attempt to make characters believable a guy gets gut shot and shot in the leg but walks around like nothing happened. he does pull the bullet out but for some reason in a fist fight when hit there no reaction. Stabbings the same thing one yelp and that's it no screaming. Its obvious the writer has never been in a fight, stabbed or shot or at least seen someone suffer one of those. The pain is unbearable the screams are deafening the whole storyline made no sense at all. I think he threw in everything from incest to drugs to fighting. Honestly even the end when they finally have the no holds bar fight we are suppose to believe little Jamie Bell 5 foot 7 a 160 pounds soaking wet beat all this big bad ass dudes up !? This was garbge I am sorry there is a reason you never heard of it if it hit the theaters I am sure it was out of them the next week. They had a supposedly smart kid rob a store in his home town without a mask, get pulled over give the deputy his drivers license and then knock him out and steal his cruiser. Yet they make you think because he wo the fight he was off the hook for those crimes ? There was a cop who was also a druggy I think again suppose to be smart gets killed like a moron with no experience in dealing with and armed suspect. Not one of these grown up characters had any redeemable qualities at all. Normally I would say good script but bad casting or bad script but good casting there is nothing at all about this movie that was good honestly the writer must have used his own money there is no way this was greenlight unless someone was high or maybe Jamie Bell paid for it so he could play a fighter honestly if you have not seen this don't waste your time just awful that's all I can say I am amazed it has a 38% ranking that's 37% to high the 1% is for Margaret Qualley's nude scene that's it that's the only thing if you want to see her naked then look up on Mr. skin what time she gets naked in the film at fast forward to that forget the plot there isn't one awful I know I said that but it had to be said again.

Not sure of what the story was here. Every character was bad, no protagonist. Obviously Jamie Bell just wanted to do something where he fights really really well. But it's just grim and depressing, gratuitous violence with zero point. Like the bad cop storyline, which had nothing to do with anything. Waste of good actors.

Not the best movie obviously but it's a decent watch to pass the time at night.
