[Director Kim G-hey] and co-writer Courtney Ellum have crafted a vital morality lesson about the perils of screen entertainment. It's more Michael Haneke's Funny Games than Eli Roth's splatstick shenanigans.

Questionable stylistic choices and a lack of satirical nous rob Don't Click of its knowingly trashy potential.

There may be gory agonies and dismemberments on display, but it is us, ultimately, being taken apart, as the film deconstructs its own target audience, and reminds us of the real people haunting the other side of our screens.
