"Downeast" never goes for cheap and fake thrills, staying true to its battered and bruised characters. I'm eager to see what Raffa comes up with next.

Even though Downeast suffers from thinly-written supporting characters, the lead performances keep the film above water.

The details of the town and its people that matter most. It is rare to see a movie go all in on setting with this level of success.

It is well shot, swiftly paced, exciting, and just a wee bit chilling.

An indie thriller so simple as to be elemental.
