Downton Abbey

What, you may ask, distinguishes "Downton Abbey" on the big screen from its smaller kin? Well, the movie is twice as long...

This is a delight for fans of the drama series set in the world of the British aristocracy.

For period junkies, it's as rousing as "John Wick" is for action fans. Given the material, a rowdy cheer seems inappropriate, so a polite round of applause will do.

While Downton Abbey will undoubtedly please fans of the series more than it will newcomers to the material, this movie is nevertheless a great deal of breezy fun.

The strengths of the series are the strengths of the film. It looks great. It sounds great. If it could, it certainly would smell great (like rain, Earl Grey, green grass, and freshly baked bread.)

Serves a fond nostalgia for the British monarchy in the same way that Gone With the Wind served the Old South.

The Downton Abbey movie is just a longer episode of the tv series. As a longtime Downton fan myself, I left the theater entertained, but disappointed.

Creator Julian Fellowes seamlessly moved his elegant television serial to the big screen without missing a beat.

Loved visiting this world of Downton Abbey as they face a royal visit. A must watch.
