The tonal shifts flicker like a strobe light, while the mannered use of black and white, with a later shift to full colour, comes across as pretentious and literal rather than evocative of the character's inner state.

You'll hear the warning bells signifying a Category 5 Pretentiousness Alert right from the start of the ponderous and stiff psychological drama "Elyse," and it's not a false alarm.

Unconvincing on every level.

"Elyse" is a strange movie, and it's hard to imagine more than a handful of people - maybe a dozen, tops - enjoying it ... except that, I'm one of those people. Maybe you are, too.

Interesting take on psychological drama; drinking, language.

Anthony Hopkins is really the best thing about it... He's worth watching.
