, 69% Audience Score- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsHistorical nonsense. Katherine Parr was not put in a dungeon and she did not kill Henry VIII. Don't get why they turned a good true story into this rubbish.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsThe wonderful Alicia Vikander and Jude Law work wonders with a script that appears to have been written by a frustrated 6th-form schoolgirl. As for the conclusion to the story, oh dear, never mind the history feel the width....
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsThe opening line of this movie should tell it all. They start out by completely invalidating historiography outside of ‘men and war’ the rest being ‘wild’ conclusions. What utter rubbish. Watching the movie is quite telling of this statement in practice as it is evidences a writer/producer that has not read any historical works outside of what was published in the 70/80s and their wild conclusions show.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsThe lack of any historical accuracy is what kills this, not the strong work from the cast.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsIt portrays skillfully the terror of being at the mercy of a madman's whim
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsDark and tense, with a fantastic performance by Jude Law. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsWent in not expecting much, but excellent movie, really enjoyed it. Jude Law and Alicia Vikander were excellent. If you love history and the lead up to the first and second and one of the greatest queens of England, then this is the movie. Actually even if you don't love history, the drama was excellent.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsHe changed the ending. No she didn’t kill Henry. How dare they mess with or suggest an alternate with history. Henry died of blood poisoning. He was huge and no man or woman could’ve choked him. Don’t believe it. Shame on them 🤦🏻♀️
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsDo we really see what the past has to offer us as an opportunity to notice what works and what does not? Numero Uno: Can we please just drop the need to hold power over others. It is suffocating and outdated. We can do better and we should be more aware. The we includes me.
