I created an account for this movie. Too many people are focusing on the commentary this movie has on Hollywood instead of appreciating everything else it is doing. The simple comedy of knowing how bizarre the main character's situation must often seem to him keeps this movie going. If you watch this movie through his eyes it is just excellent and many scenes had my wife and I dying. In addition to being funny, it is an absolutely wild swing to create a movie where the main character doesn't speak but still manages to stay engaging while he progresses through the world. But it makes it work. One thing I was trying to figure out halfway through the movie was how to properly conclude a movie like this? The main character is just swept along, so how do you end it in a satisfying way? Yet, Charlie Day as a director manages a wonderfully sweet ending while doing something new and killing it as a silent actor. I am really disappointed this movie had such a poor reception and seems to be judged on its few weaknesses instead of everything else it is doing. Fantastic ride, unexpected emotional heart, a stellar cast and hilariously funny.

I think half of my braincells died 30 minutes in. The positive reviews only like the movie for its casting and nothing else. It's clear Charlie Day should not be allowed to direct ever again.

Beautiful, compelling concept. But I never cared what was happening. The central character had no depth and was surrounded by episodes of other characters with no depth. A parade of Hollywood stereotypes around a void of a central character.

Painful to watch. Such a great cast, but they can't overcome the writing. Ii feels like a combination of the movies Being There and Hail Ceasar. You want it to work, but it fails miserably.

This "comedy" is pure drab. I am so bored and there is still 36 minutes left. I regret my decision to invest in this movie. Each passing minute is slightly worse than the last.

What a conflicting movie. The writing, acting, and directing are fine, but the whole thing feels disjointed and choppy. There's a couple lackluster performances (Common, most notably), but the editing seems to be the biggest thing that poorly stands out. It's not an unfunny movie, but the final product doesn't seem to work. Given the chaotic production of this movie, I feel like it was just a few steps away from being hilarious. As it is, it's a film that will be most enjoyed by those who love commentary on the state of Hollywood and fans of Charlie Day.

I really don't know what everyone else watched, but apparently it wasn't this! Charlie Day delivers a cameo cavalcade of stars as Director, and adopts a Chaplinesque persona as the movie's star performer. The exaggeration of quirks, character flaws, and flamboyant personalities are juxtaposed perfectly against CD's deftly mime-like performance. The result is something akin Baumbach and Anderson with a quirky comedic style, and a great script. I am genuinely surprised to find myself in the minority with this view

An odd movie. I feel like it was looking to rehash the concept of The Bellboy, which I was excited about. It never quite got there though. Was a good chuckle but no uproariously funny moments.

A dreadful rehash of Being There

Reminiscent of Peter Seller's final film, this odd yet pleasantly funny romp through the odd world of Hollywood demonstrates that perhaps it truly is the rest of the world that has gone insane.
