"Fright" is definitely one of the first home invasion, baby sitter slasher movies. Starring a young Susan George and equally young Dennis Waterman, the British well known cast bring to life a disturbing story of a maniac intent on taking a young child from his home. "Fright" has some really creepy moments, particularly when Amanda, ( Susan George ) the babysitter, is alone in the house with the young child. The fear experienced by Amanda is conveyed to the audience with the use of some really good cinematography and sounds.  Although surpassed by more modern films in the slasher , home invasion genre "Fright" is still an atmospheric, disturbing movie that is a very enjoyable watch.

The thing about 70s thrillers is despite the more cheesy elements they still have the capacity to entertain and this film is a real gem of that period. Director Peter Collinson is best known for the Italian Job and here he cratfs a neat little thriller with a nice line in nasty and some terrific performances from its main cast. Susan George plays Amanda a baby sitter who is left alone to look after a couples young son. Trouble is the wifes Ex husband has just escaped from an Asylum and is turning up to wreak terror on all those involved. Ian Bannen gives an outstanding performance as the over the edge Brian ,one minute he is calm and cool the next a goggle eyed maniac ,Collinson uses his camera and these two central performances to ratchet everything up to 11 . Honor Blackman is good too as the distressed wife and George Cole and Dennis Waterman apear although thier is only gallows humour on display here. An unlike some thrillers the ending is suprisingly downbeat for its time ,i f you like Brit thrillers you could do a lot worse than seeking this winner out.

One of the first in its genre; old gothic house, hot baby-sitter, killer on the loose, etc. Looked promising to begin with but then some pretty awful over-acting going on there. Not a brilliant script but well directed. Great quote here - Killer: "If you try and get in, I'll kill 'em!" Roger Lloyd Pack: "Shall we still try and get in the back, Serge(Sgt)?" So typical of him :D

Nicely done proto-slasher, with amplified but diegetic environmental sounds, an effective corpse reveal, and a lot of contextually fun overacting by the primary cast. The gender and generational elements are interesting, as they initially cause and prolong conflict but finally resolve what the police can not. Camerawork is period stylish, with a lot of Dutch angles in addition to genre zooms and claustrophobic pans throughout the cluttered old manor.

British psychological horror thriller scripted by b-movie legend Tudor Gates and directed by Peter Collinson (The Italian Job/Up The Junction) starring George Cole and Dennis Waterman - years before they teamed up in Minder, not to mention Susan George and Honor Blackman is low on actual blood and guts, but high on unseen menace and danger. It perhaps does fall down is in the rather drawn-out ending but nevertheless it is still a very good movie and something of a pre-cursor to frighteners of a later era

One of the original babysitter terrorized films, and likely one of the best.

FRIGHT is ok i guess.....it definately picks up as it goes on. And SUSAN GEORGE is too bloody hot for words - its very frustrating that she doesn't get naked!! Worth checking out if you are into british terror flicks and well...SUSAN GEORGE. "Pussy Galore" from the James Bond flick GOLDFINGER is in this....
