Girl on the Third Floor

The audience knows where the movie's going, and gets there before the movie does. Nonetheless it bodes nicely for longtime horror producer Travis Stevens, here making his feature debut behind the camera.

This is a haunted house movie that I actually enjoyed a lot... It's kind of a fun look at gender dynamics.

The impressive haunted house flick Girl on the Third Floor is just as much a machine to produce seductive imagery as it is an effective deconstruction of those blatant symbols.

Still, the film's bifurcated structure is cumulatively effective, especially given that it re-centers the narrative on a wronged woman, rather than her thoughtless, rage-filled man.

A haunted-house flick that mostly eschews jump scares for more satisfying psychological and erotic twists.

The film is loud and obvious about declaring its themes, as if to distract from their ultimate shallowness.

At the core, it has a fantastic premise and something that has great potential. What does a disservice to that is the poor performances and the overwhelming ignorance of the characters, that just go beyond believability.

A solid chiller, a loose, fun, gooey twist on a haunted house yarn, "Girl on the Third Floor" uses horror as a metaphor for toxic behaviors and relationships.

Stevens shows that he is ready to earn his chops in the directors chair and it's easy to get excited about what he plans to tackle next. Girl on the Third Floor has a lot of heart and some of it might be bleeding out right on the living room floor.
