omg it was sooo bornig, it had no right to be 2 hours long and i think that the villans are alright in coscept but execution wise is sucks so much bootyhole, i think that the writer should be put in prison for writing this god awful movie and i hope it gets scrubbed off the internet forever so no one needs to waste their precious life watching this :)

this movie was a massive surprise for me. Yes the action was spectacular and the visuals were beautiful, but what really shocked me was my genuine enjoyment for the story. It addressed and fixed many of my problems from the first monsterverse film, and though DEFINITELY uneven(first 50 minutes of the story were pretty good, next 30 were alright, and the rest was spotty), the final battle stood in at the end of the film. in this film, the action and the narrative equally support eachother, though at much different times. 7.6/10

An ambitious, but messy sequel that takes big swings, but has a few big misses along the way. All the Kaiju monster action is epic and it's really exciting getting to see Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah all throw hands. But the human subplot feels frustrating with its nonsensical justification that the kaiju are "good for the environment" at the end and borderline eco-fascist messaging with the rogue scientist wife actively trying to commit worldwide genocide with the kaiju, yet the movie demands she gets equal sympathy & "she's got a point" to the main lead. Don't get me wrong, humans have absolutely been detrimental to the environment, especially within the last century. But eco-genocide has been such a crutch for "antagonist with a point just wants to save the world, but goes to far" plots, except this one's even worse since the movie keeps dwelling on the rogue mother's advocation...for genocide. She's still antagonist proven wrong, but the juxtapose makes for such tonal Whiplash for a movie that should just stick to the monster mash.

Beautiful, fun, interesting, monsters smaaaash . This gets half a star less than Godzilla (2014) simply because the sound editing was not differentiated well enough between the monsters. It was definitely a beautiful film. Ken Watanabe, Zhang Ziyi, and Charles Dance always create depth and evoke emotion even when they don't have the best script or convincing dialogue to work with. Godzilla looked great in this, it's obviously his movie. I would have loved to see more of the other monsters than just King Ghidorah, but what we got to see was done pretty well. It's hard for a dragon-esque design to compete with GoT, and Ghidorah certainly suffered in the comparison. Rodan felt more impactful despite having less screen time. And as long as I'm complaining, I think Mothra was under-utilized.
