Great White

A limp survival flick that drags considerably more than it scares.

The film's human characters make for drab company, leaving one with little to do but admire the scenery, waiting for dinnertime.

What distinguishes "Great White" from numerous "Jaws" wannabes is that we do feel an emotional investment about who lives and who becomes chum. It's a promising debut from Wilson.

An over reliance on CGI effects and clunky attempts to imply a lurking threat fall flat, making it hard to ever really buy into the terror supposedly lurking beneath the waves.

Lush locations and low stakes make this a solid if unremarkable and occasionally frustrating entry in the body of shark films.

Is it amazing? No. Is it terrible? No. But it was certainly good enough that we weren't angry about it!
