a beautiful, harrowing and heart shattering movie about three friends and the severe trauma they face in their own separate lives and how within their unbreakable bonds they find strength, love, escapism and family, they fight for each other in the most brutal ways, and although some of the brutality was unjustified, i found myself supporting them because they were pretty loveable teens looking for a way out of their darkened worlds that they didn't ask to be a part of. absolutely fantastic, gripping, raw and real movie, i was sobbing, ugly crying by the end.

Emocionante...

at first the violence felt a little harsh and out of context i thought maybe it's just there for shock value. but as i got to see more into the characters minds and lives it started to make sense. i thought the movie was raw and beautiful in its complexity and showcased the spectrum of the human emotion. the main characters could've beeb any other characters in the movie and i think that what made it so good and realistic. the movie really got to me, and i recommend going into watching it with your heart rather than your head

The talented cast was not enough to keep interest in a plot that was fragmented at best. There are glimmers of excellence, that fade quickly as none of the backstory had been fleshed out. I waited for a pinnacle moment to come and bring together the unconnected narratives and shed insight into how the events folded, but that moment never came.

It doesn't go anywhere like it seems stuck. Cast was ok minus the can't act for heard. Was hoping for something more

I'm not sure what critics of this movie were looking for… it had echoes of Boyz In The Hood and Crash, but ultimately it's a simple tale of friendship, childhood trauma and life growing up in LA. The clever use of gaming imagery and metaphor intertwined with the completely dis-functional lives of 3 friends is wonderfully, but painfully pulled together by fantastic performances from the main cast. Definitely, definitely worth a watch… the Director WILL create a masterpiece in time… of that there is no doubt.

no idea why this movie got so many poor reviews. I watched it yesterday and thought it was so good i had to watch it again. It was very well written. This was a story of different lives, experiences and growing up together. Obviously childhood traumas some can live with some can't. It was an exchange of lives in the end for Calvin who was more severely affected from childhood trauma and gets murdered when he is older through his more crazy shenanigans (goes to Venus) and Jesse who on the back of that or out of respect decides to walk forward and live his life again. I thought the whole cast played their parts really well. I would recommend it and have already recommended this as well worth a watch.

This film is a masterpiece in its own right offering hyperbolic realism in every moment to emphasise the struggles that young men from deprived backgrounds face and explores the theme of morality through an anarchic use of cinematography and sound.

The four main leads make this a worthwhile watch, they are excellent. It looks and sounds great, but what happened to narrative?
