Long time followers and fans of Cohen's body of work may be frustrated and disappointed, as I was, that after a brief introduction to Cohen and some of the music industry drama that followed his career- the filmmakers began to treat Cohen like a one hit wonder and started to focus on one song that eventually and finally went viral in popular and mainstream 'Murika... that people- including those who sang it- didn't even know had been written and recorded by Cohen . And after this documentary, they may not learn much more about Cohen's legacy or his vast contributions and pervasive influences in the arts world... except to say that he was the guy who "actually" "literally" wrote that Jeff Buckley song. Maybe that was the whole intention of this film, but it turned me off and I turned it off before the credits could sing "Hallelujah".

I really liked the film because it takes you on the life journey of Leonard Cohen, an artist I love very much, and illuminates things about his work in a deep and personal way. I also saw the movie "Leonard and Marian" and although it was interesting it was like a document. In the movie "Hallelujah" I was completely in it and was simply moved to tears.

He reminded me that life can be deep and meaningful if you just listen and try to understand yourself and other people. There has never been a man in modern times that could paint words together as a masterpiece like Leonard Cohen did. To this day the concert in Israel was the best concert I've ever seen in my life.

A fascinating journey about the one of the greatest songs of all time and the man behind the lyrics. Leonard Cohen fans may not learn much, but it truly is amazing how you can hear the song over and over and it doesn't get tiresome. How many songs can fill up a two-hour documentary and leave you wanting more? If you like music this is a must-see documentary! Hubby: 9.3/Wife 8.3 Average: 8.8/10

We waded far from the shallows for an hour and a half waiting for KD Langs version which my girl, our Hallelujah expert, insisted is the best. Well, if they save the best, for last, this clearly was the best because she sang it at his memorial service after he was colder than Lazarus before Jesus showed up. The film was about as entertaining as Albert Camus and Jean Paul Sartre doing Reiner and Brooks 2000 y/o man.

Really enjoyed the documentary and how it followed the "life" of "Hallelujah" as well as the life of Leonard Cohen.

One of my favorite films this year! SO touching. Definitely cried a couple times. I am not really a Leonard Cohen fan, but the film is more about the song than him. I would see again. Hope it gets nominated for an Oscar. Just blew me away.
