Happy Death Day 2U

Happy Death Day 2U, more importantly, never loses sight of its secret weapon: Rothe, who rolls with every punch this film throws at her.

This film is basically just ridiculous nonsense. I had a ton of fun.

Jessica Rothe handles all of these transitions well, the horror, the action heroey stuff, they sentimental stuff, she's great.

Along the lines of other recent inexpensive genre efforts that behave more like franchise blockbusters by building out their lore and doubling down on their nerdiness.

One of those efficiently lazy sequels that by turns bores you to death and induces chuckles.

It is instead that rarity - a sequel that is both better than the original and manages to retroactively improve that movie.

This sequel not only wrongly retcons unnecessary plot details of its predecessor, but it makes that correction its main story, continuously reminding the audience that we just have to accept it.

Happy Death Day 2U is a big risk film, one that might not resonate with the typical Blumhouse moviegoer, but it’s fun, no matter what dimension you’re watching it in.

Rothe is asked to go even further here in terms of balancing the horror and comedy elements. She’s still a lot of fun to watch and is more than able to do most of the heavy lifting.

This was genius. Basically what they've done is re-routed us into the first movie.
