Hawaizaada

The only thing that soars is its music, but for that, I wouldn't have had to see it, would I?

"Hawaizaada" often fails to soar. Mr. Puri works hard, but the strain shows and so do the movie's seams.

The premise was promising, but the film never soars dramatically.

Just like his set, Puri's film also focuses on the theatrics, the frills, the melodrama, and not on the actual story, which makes for a very tedious watch.

Puri attempts to infuse Hawaizaada with a child-like sense of wonder. Regrettably he manages to render a film that is childish.

A well-intentioned but stodgy cinematic fleshing out of an obscure footnote in aviation history, Hawaizaada takes eons to climb to cruising altitude.

Hawaizaada has been made and shot with passion and care, but the use of sets and computer-generated imagery is obvious, taking the creation even further away from earth than it already is.
