Infidel

It would be irresponsible to take the film's "inspired by true events" claim too seriously. That doesn't mean it's not satisfying to watch...

Aided by excellent performances across the board by its international cast, Infidel works best when it's an old-fashioned thriller.

[Claudia] Karvan brings Liz's desperation and determination to the screen quite well.

This "inspired by true events" drama is presented in a blandly impersonal, uninspired manner, with wobbly, uneven filmmaking, a dull lead character, and a mixed collection of messages about faith.

The faith-based story of an arrogant Christian blogger - who deliberately insults Muslims on Cairo TV - preaches to the choir.

The schizophrenic nature of its DNA is both intriguing and confounding.

It's a weird mixture but I was entertained enough to recommend it.
