Have to agree with most reviews here - the original was one of my favourite films that I still remember vividly after watching it so many years ago - so I was intrigued to see what this remake would add to the classic. I loved the original ending and shocked by the conclusion to Jacob's journey - I was also shocked with the remake - shocked at how bad it was - shocked at taking the key component of the original storyline and changing it be a diminished, unoriginal, lame ending, shocked at the direction, the acting and the audacity to give it the same name as the original - terribly embarrassing to all involved. Just hope the original gets some more plays as a result of this to give those filmmakers some more credit - going to watch the 1990 version again just to get this 2019 abomination out of my system!

Telegraphs every move it is going to make and is really dumb.

An insult to the original, this 2019 remake doesn't have anywhere near the same feel as the Adriene Lyne classic

Jacob's Ladder is a good movie. It deals with the trauma of young men who as soldiers experience life and death with no explanation. They are sent in to fight enemies and who are they to do so without explanation or cause? Is it strange so many veterans come home a mess? Hooked on drugs or unable to function in everyday society? Let's DEAL with THAT issue. I knew a woman who worked a VA facility; I used to drive her to and from work at times. She'd tell me these stories of men (never women!!) Who were traumatized, had nightmares and "saw things." This movie deals with those issues. They ARE real. Now if we are dealing with this telling of such a story it is decent. Not as horrible as critics have said at all, it IS focured on what it is about without the religious tones being so heavy; rather "helll on earth" is more of what haunts its main subject. It twists and turns and YES, the story becomes about two brothers. It is a great movie in that sense. The wife of this story is not supportive enough or realistic on how she fails to support her husband; there is a big reveal as to why that is so I will leave that to you to discover. Michael and Jessie do a great job of giving what would have otherwise been a 1 star forgettable mess. It LOOKS good, the mood and feel is haunting but then it just ends. There is a devil in this story, and it isn't what you think it is at first. Take a look to gain a compassion for those who have suffered from the aftermath of war and like "American Sniper," "Full Metal Jacket" and "The Machurian Candidate" (The original AND Denzil's remake are classics) pay proper homage to the ravages of war and what they do to the men who serve. I would love to see a story about the women who serve and if they experience any of what the men do when they return home.

not as good as the original, but it was an interesting reboot. definitely watch the first one.

Decent, semi-original. Comes up with it's own twists to separate itself from the original and tries to do something new. Not even CLOSE to as good, obviously. 7.5/10

This remake of Jacob ‘s Ladder was something bearable to watch while searching I through a sea of movies on Netflix. It made me feel anxious and it was a very dark setting. If you're in the mood to see something confusing and depressing- this is a good choice. The acting was decent.
