Joker: Folie à Deux

Terrible, why they decided to make it a musical? We will never know.

This was totally different then the first one. Just a musical with no plot. was disappointed.

I watched this on a plane because I heard it was a musical and had Lady Gaga and I was surprisingly captivated. I also haven't seen the first, but now I want to.

This fever dream of a movie is a weird musical. I love musicals. However this one was awful. Boring for over half the movie.

This sequel to the original was brilliant to me. I was pleasantly surprised. The story felt organic to the original in that Arthur is now on trial for his crimes but he befriends Harley Quinn and they fall in love. I was expecting both of them to ride off into the sunset but the outcome is very different. It’s utterly bleak, somber, dour and tragic but it works. The musical elements are fine because some are occurring in real time whilst others are purely imaginative. This works to maintain a fine balance between the romance and Arthur’s reputation as the joker. This take on the joker was always meant to be a deconstruction of the man behind the joker which is Arthur Fleck. The performances are great. I really don’t get the hate. The negative criticism goes over my head. I was really expecting this to be over-indulgent and derivative of what came before but it wasn’t. A good sequel remixes traditional elements and troupes whilst adding a whole new layer of nuance demonstrated through tone, theme and narrative. The joker 2 did just that. Arguably it might be the best film I’ve seen this year.

It’s so bad but Joaquin’s acting is the only good thing

Excellent! The characters were psychologically well developed. Creatively delving into the human mind. Gaga and Phoenix were outstanding.

Shame this went above the heads if most. Brilliant film. People who gave this film 1 or 2 starts gave Sinners 4 or 5 stars. I think that says it all, doesn’t it. The defense rests, your honor.

I think the music is good but lady gaga could be better. I can get why people hate this film but it's great with the cinematography
