Ultimately, for all its wildly entertaining elements, Kalki 2898 AD feels like too much of a good thing, resembling the sort of lavish buffet meal that leaves you feeling overstuffed and exhausted.

[A] wildly uneven mashup of everything from Fritz Lang’s “Metropolis” to Marvel Comics movies, underpinned by elements from the Hindu epic poem “Mahabharata.”

It’s all a lot, as they say, but those with a taste for maximalism will swoon over the goods on offer here.

Goofy, over-earnest, and just good enough where it counts, “Kalki 2898 AD” outdistances its competition simply by digging deeper than expected into its patchy lore’s rich melodramatic turf.

Kalki 2898 AD isn’t a film&#59; it’s a proposal for one. It ends not on a cliffhanger, but a call-to-action. It is — and there’s no better way to describe it — the cinematic equivalent of clickbait.

You can tell a lot about a film’s collective smartness with the way it employs its star cameos.

This dystopian setup foreshadows the grim future for mankind should the world continue on its current course, but underneath, it's packed with mythological symbols and diverse cultural, spiritual, and religious beliefs.

Kalki 2898 AD is a mega cinematic journey which shows the power of mythology.

It takes awhile for the plot to kick in, but once it does, it's a highly entertaining sci-fi epic.
