Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
audience Reviews
, 77% Audience Score- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsThis film offers an exciting and visually striking narrative, although it does not reach the heights of its predecessors.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsOne of the weakest 'Apes' films in the franchise... if not THE weakest. Just doesn't hit like Caesar does. The visual effects are fine, but nothing groundbreaking. Fairly forgettable.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsThis movie actually tells us the aftermath of war for the planet of the apes, and shows why there is more to learn after the 3rd film.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsTruly mediocre movie. There is a lot that doesn’t make sense, including character motivation and history. The apes don’t look as good as the previous movies too, it feels like too much CGI and doesn’t have that gritty reality that the other films did. The constant references to the Caesar which would be history to these characters don’t make sense and doesn’t provide any meaningful link to this generation. Any lessons that should’ve been learnt in the other movies are completely discarded, as if they are simply trying to set up a new batch of movies with war all over again. Also the runtime was too much to ask of the audience.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsI loved the trilogy that preceded this… I would have been happy if they left it alone and stopped trying to build because compared to the first films in this current iteration of planet of the apes… this movie is not even half as good. I couldn’t finish the film. It pales in comparison to the three that came just before it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsSomething very funny and weird happens with this franchise: I’m never that excited to see these movies, yet I always end up impressed by how well-executed, exciting, and entertaining they are. This was no exception. The script is solid, you genuinely care about the characters, and the pacing works well. My biggest takeaway from this one is the incredible production design—while 90% of it might be CGI, the attention to detail and quality is out of this world, maybe the best since 'Avatar: The Way of Water'. Plus, I’m a sucker for abandoned, post-apocalyptic worlds. Too bad I didn't see this at a movie theater. I’m excited to see what’s coming next!
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsWhile this new chapter of the apes franchise still suffers the problems of the last trilogy the visual effects are still mind blowing
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsOut of the recent planet of the apes films this was my least favorite. I was expecting a better plot. The apes looked more cartoonie this time around than if you go back to the first film in this grouping.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsIt was mediocre. Gets your attention but the story lacks big time. CGI was fantastic but its the plot that turned me off. Ending left you thinking.. really ?? that's it ?
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars(SPOILER WARNING) It could just be my love for theater experiences, but this movie was absolutely amazing, beginning to end. You're always paying attention and you never feel as though the Director spends a little too much time in certain locations. When you find out what's inside the vault, you're left on the edge of your set for the entire latter half of the film, and when Mr. Kevin Durand's character Proximus Caesar gets led to death by a flock of birds accompanied by an ape's chant, something inside you comes alive. It was phenomenal. One of the best installments in the growing franchise.
