Thoroughly enjoyable, although maybe only romantics will fall for its many charms. Très French, so très chic and sexy with some nice humorous touches, you'll wish you could travel back with bored character Daniel Auteuil back to his personal golden epoch with some beautiful people too. Although rooted in the modern day, it says more about the past and nostalgia with every glib cliché drawn from a gay 70s palette.

This is a French comedy fantasy drama film, with the first half being quite amusing, with perhaps relatable domestic tiffs shown and the like, then, in the 2nd half, it becomes somewhat more surreal, a bit more 'Truman Show'-esque, only the main character is partly in on it. Its a bit hard to describe to someone who hasn't seen it, without giving obvious spoilers. I quite admire some French films for how weirdly arty and philosophical they can be. Its surprisingly poignant and I found towards the end it became particularly romantic. Yes, I'd recommend this film.

Keen to see a French movie at our regional cinema ( first time in 2020 due CoVid restrictions!) Thoroughly enjoyed it although a bit confusing at the start with multiple exchanges between real time and re-enactments! Highly recommended- original plot, good script and very engaging.

LA BELLE ÉPOQUE is a clever romantic comedy with a strong message for anyone who lives in a relationship with someone and the spark of love has gone. The acting is great with good character development and a complex story that is engaging, funny, and meaningful. The personal journeys that each of the main characters take is fresh and inspiring. A witty, intelligent movie.

Overall, La Belle Époque is a creative and fun film. To my surprise, it is also an incredibly touching film which impacted me greatly, particularly in the film's final moments (yes, I may have cried a little). The film's concept and plot seems familiar at first, but it is quite new and creative, plus it combines elements of romance, comedy, and drama. Even when I felt the film's duration ever so slightly, based on the ending, it was certainly worth the build-up and I felt rewarded. A film like this is quite rare and it promises to leave you with a smile on your face while exiting the dark cinema. - Walkden Entertainment

Romance without cringe. I like it. It really demonstrates good how important it is to collect many good memories. One thing I really liked after the movie was trying to decide what part of my life I would love to go back again. I remember the movie "Wandafuru raifu" created similar feelings.
