Lady Buds

This isn't the most artfully made documentary... But eventually it sneaks up on you.

It's a really interesting, powerful story.

While a few characters are as colorful as one would imagine, most are simply hard-working entrepreneurs trying to stay afloat. The feminist film does their stories justice through an empathetic if disappointingly dry lens.

It's an ultimately depressing trajectory, though the film itself remains engaging and well crafted.

Lady Buds is the kind of film whose raison d'être isn't immediately obvious, but whose storytelling is engaging enough that we're ready for wherever the journey takes us.

A broad and insightful overview of the subject, which is explored in considerably more depth than might have been expected from a film which is packed to the gills with high-strength weed.

The film reassured me that cannabis needs to be legalized in every state because of how beneficial it is. Much like this documentary, marijuana holds far more positives than negatives.

Russo demonstrates that marijuana is a homegrown industry built upon the compassion of others something threatened to be lost in its commercialization.

While the doc can be somewhat choppy at times and repetitive, we do end up rooting for these ladies.
