Disappointed. I couldn't believe how weak Costner's character was.

Slow first half trailer is misleading

Simply electrifying. One of the best movies I ever saw. The tension and injustice build to an unforgettable final third. Lane and Costner were magnetic with each other. I really believed in their relationship and shared determination. The backdrops in this film are awesome. The period is captured wonderfully and I can't fault the score either. Altogether it made a near perfect film.

The acting brings the rating down. Kevin Costner is excellent! Diane Lane is a gorgeous lady but she has lack luster acting skills. She has been fortunate enough to play opposite some A list actors and actresses: Richard Gere, Matt Dillon, Kevin Costner, Viola Davis, Helen Mirren, Bryan Cranston, Mark Whalberg. directed by Francis Ford Coppola yet every performance she gives is underwhelming. Directors, please stop casting her.

Powerful and disturbing. Great acting. Why have I never heard about this movie?
  • Rating: 2 out of 5 stars
I think that the movie was to slow to come to the climax and was quite boring 😴, the reason I put two stars is because the acting was really good and the sets were nice. The plot needed more work and developing and the jump cuts was a little overwhelming.

Incredibly sad, but excellent movie. Captures family abuse so well, and has a great storyline.

Intense, realistic, great acting. Watched for the 2nd time. Kevin Costner & Diane Lane make quite a pair. The female villain Leslie Manville really makes you want to hate her.

This is quite possibly the worst movie I have ever seen, that wasn't intended to be purposefully bad.

A good modern western with a simple history and emotional moments
