Let Him Go

Costner does the world-weary cowboy very well, with very good support...and a very good score.

Raising it to a must-see, [Lane] gets the scope to build a character who's at once fretful and dead set, clinging on to what she loves, and fully prepared to fight.

The southern gothic doesn't quite fit with the carefully drawn central couple. But Bezucha ... keeps a vice-like hold on the viewer's attention.

The enjoyable Searchers-style plot is serviceable and elevated by a classy, invested cast.

Unlike many neo-westerns, which bandy hollow notions of ‘civilization’ that play out on the film’s surface, Let Him Go runs a classical plot through a refined image of modern society.

Let Him Go accurately portrays an era that was dominated by men, but it focuses on the roles that women represented back in the 60s. The women that guided and raised a generation of men to become potent leaders.
