One so disappointing piece directed by Johnnie To which owing much to the hollow & unqualified script.

Very very draggy, pointless and boring. Would never have watched it and would most probably only give it half a star if it wasn't for Vic. (I love him).

Even an experienced director like Johnnie To can make such a terrible one. Very shallow and childish approach to Zhuangzi's Butterfly Dream. Such a waste of Bingbing Li's beauty if a director doesn't know how to film a star well... And, who's that guy - he should give up to be an actor now. Johnnie To is originally not good at describing characters, and lack of too much explanation was kind of his style in action films, but it does not suit to this kind of psychological human drama. Coppola's Youth Without Youth is much much better as a film dealing with the same topic.

Could be the borest Johnny To's film in his life!!! The so-called love between Li and Chow is unconvincing and weak... a failure film...

Everything about this movie is pretty bad. EVERYTHING. The pairing of Li and Chou is ridiculous and not believable as Li is 6 years old then Chou in real life, and looks that way. I could continue till the end of time, but I'm sure you have more important things to do.

Occasionally Johnnie To makes a safe commercial movie for the home market. Often they're worth seeing, if not as classic as the ones he dispatches to the international film festival circuit. This contemporary ghost romance is not one of them: solid, routine work with few suggestions of the trademark To feeling for gesture and atmosphere.
