I was pleasantly surprised by the acting and the kind of story the director wants to tell.

An interesting insight of an African community that sadly lacks the powerful emotional strikes it should have hold. There is a big lack of empathy for both the lead characters that prevent you from being totally involved or deeply moved by what is going on. And mostly it has been done more strikingly in other entries but still worth a watch if you're into world cinema and want to keep your conscience awake of what is going on in our world.

Lingui offers an emotional, inspiring look into the misogyny that exists in the country of Chad and how the women are fighting together to brave through those harsh circumstances. The movie is simplistic for better and for worse, but it is especially strong at conveying a strong sense of community and how important that unity is for these women.
