    quite bizarre and weird

Malum is an excellent horror movie. The unease is constantly ratcheted up from the very beginning, escalating with every passing minute...as is the gore....this movie is definitely not for the faint-hearted. Jessica Sula is outstanding in the lead role, effectively carrying and driving the movie on her own shoulders. Highly recommended for all horror fans.

Although Malum starts with a promising beginning that sets the stage for a solid horror movie, it unfortunately loses substance by devolving into sensational visuals, repetitive jump scares, and clichés.

This is a huge ripoff from Last Shift. It's the exact same movie with different actors. Completely unoriginal and should be fined for copyright infringement. Last Shift is a way better movie in every way too.

One hell of a ride, I was lucky enough to see this movie in the theater. The best Horror movie of 2023. From beginning to end your on a rollercoaster. Not knowing what's real or not. Way better than the original and more gore. Movie should be in every horror movie fan's collection. Can't wait to see what Anthony DiBlasi does next.

was intense from the start to the end with N-numbers of jump scares to a point of confusion.

Malum is a dark horror movie that follows a rookie police officer as she takes the last shift at a decommissioned police station to uncover the mysterious connection between the death of her father and a cult. This movie really surprised me with how engaging it was, not just that but this is the first horror movie in a very long time where I found myself jumping or having my heart drop because of how perfectly executed the buildups and payoffs were. The scares were barely predictable and so I really enjoyed having that change for a chance. The story behind this lead character who is played by Jessica Sula I thought was very interesting as we get to see the events in the opening of the movie that lead up to her father's death and the visuals were insane and really intense but really good. The gore in this movie in general felt more realistic and graphic than Terrifier, but this movie also does give you this unsettled feeling by giving the audience glimpses of the gore instead of full stills and I think that plays into that fear factor that it gives. This movie also just feels more grounded and realistic when it comes to the tone and how they are able to dive into the lore and backstory of this mystery cult within a 92 minute movie. It's pretty incredible how much this movie is able to accomplish and execute so well in a pretty short runtime when it comes to the overall story and delivering such a bonkers conclusion by the end. Overall, Malum is such an incredible gore-sprinkled horror movie that will definitely be on my list of best Cult Classic movies of all time. Malum is an A+.

Despite the similarities to the predecessor, Last Shift, which it is a remix of; Malum's villains are less imposing, supporting characters are more plentiful but less distinct, and there is too much drawn out family drama.
