Despite a changed setting, this is derivatively one of the worst structurally standardized haunts to manifest in ridiculed disappointment that squandered the opportunity including somehow fooling the cast to act beneath their caliber. (C-)

I thought it was mysterious dark, with an unexpected take overs by dark spirits that look for the weak & frail in order to survive. My only take on this, all the changes that occurred were horrible once being on a boat with a mythical creature at the front of the boat, and the father image just wants to give up on the child, as if he is somehow over taken as well by the mythical creature. It's like they have no real backbone from both parents. The mom doesn't want to live the son, but does.

So close... the movie looks great, great visuals. But the storyline is weak and lacks more backstory maybe? It never really drew me in to the plot and right down to the ending it falls short of substance. The story felt rushed without much thought, like a made for TV thing.

Must have spent all its money on the cast.

Absolutely waste of time. Really gripping then one of the most gosh awful endings i have ever seen.

30 minutes. I made it to 30 minutes of this movie. It's been a long time since I found myself unable to finish a movie just because of how bad it was. It's lame. LAME. The ghost is lame, the tropes are tired, badly done and lame, and the jumpscares are cheap...and lame. I gotta stop thinking that movies are good just because they have some good actors involved. And the family drama just feels forced, and unnatural. It wants you to know just how bad things were going in the main couple's marriage, and reminds you all the time. This movie is ticking off all the awful horror clichés, and I don't want to stick around long enough to see how far down the list it goes. They managed to make horror intolerably boring, which I find remarkable. Even Gary Oldman couldn't save this trash heap.

This is hands-down the greatest cinematic masterpiece of our time. A gripping narrative decorated with an all-star cast, Mary keeps you guessing while you fall in love with the characters. Mesmerizing cinematography and a tremendous soundtrack are the cherries on top of this delicious, often terrifying gem. Literally no one will dislike this pure gift to man. To prove this, I am willing to sacrifice my life, knowing full-well that my time on this Earth has not been ill-spent.

If you go into this with little to no expectations than you should be okay. Sure, it stars Gary Oldman but his performance was not enough to float this ship-wreck of a movie. To put it bluntly, this movie was full of cliches, holes, and nothing original. If you're bored and just want some background noise this may be an okay pick. If you geniunely want a decent horror flick then be like a skipper and skip this watery tale.

Disappointing and cheesy. The acting should've been better since it was a good cast.

Fairly generic couple with couple problems cause women can't keep themselves to themselves. Nothing to do with the story really. Average story- haunted ship, people get haunted, not really scary or interesting. Pretty boring, even the surprise end wasn't a huge surprise and has been done many many times before. Not worth it to watch.
