I remember liking the original. This has good comic moments, I laughed out loud a few times. The music is inoffensive modern tripe (written by Fey's husband). Some nice performances (the head mean girl grew on me). For teens and queens.

I’m not really sure who is rating this so highly, because they are seriously lying. My friend had not seen a movie in theaters in a long time and we decided to go see this one and they were begging me to leave the whole time because it was almost painful to watch. I really hope whoever produced/wrote the script takes a step back from the movie industry and reevaluate their talents and allow for constructive criticism because this was…i actually can’t even put it into words. Not fetch, let’s just say that. Renee Rapp was good though.

I really liked that they made it a musical! I LOVE musicals but it wasn’t executed that well. Good movie but didn’t exactly stay true to the original songs. I’d stick with the stage musical version or the original movie

me and my friend were exited to watch mean girls 2 at the movie theatre because we loved the 1 one but the opening scene was a musical. we stayed and thought it would get better but it got worse there were more and more musicals. after 20 minutes we left and we wasted $20 on an awful movie.

I believe this movie was nothing good compared to the original. I was extremely disappointed. Not the actor or actress fault at all, just the script.

Camera work-wise, it's alright. I'm not a fan of musicals but I can appreciate the singing of all actors but the lead one. Not because she's bad at it but because the rest of the cast seem Broadway trained to me! Specifically Regina's actress in this rendition is a phenomenal singer (so are the actors playing Damien and Janice) and that overpowers the protagonist as a character. Cady should've been able to somewhat replace Regina, be her rival, be her competition, and be equally mean. Half of the time she looked at her with amazement (?). Perhaps what I like the least, though, was that it was screaming Disney Chanel. Many people complain about the original being vulgar, discriminative and the like, but I do believe it never glorified the words some of the characters said. Without the issues the original brought to light (which despite the movies tone, do happen in high schools), this rendition seems like a feel-good, fluffed out and sugary, substance-less kid's movie. I can watch High School Musical for that.

Just to be clear I am a dude and I’m not the target demographic for this type of movie. My review is based on a critical analysis and my personal opinion. I also happened to take my sister with me and she thought it was great. That being said Mean Girls is a pretty solid movie. Not great or bad. I think it stands on its own against the original movie. I wouldn’t say it better but it’s definitely worth checking it out if you like the first one. It has the exact same story as the original movie but it’s a musical adaptation and I thought it worked. The songs were fine. The cinematography was great. The cast was solid. Some stand out better than others. The film had less comedy than the original but most of the jokes landed. The film was not made for me but many Mean Girls fans and theater fans will like this one.

Probably one of the dumbest re-creations of a movie. An the music wasn’t needed

Like the original, this Mean Girls movie tries way too hard and constantly tries to hit you over the head with its schtick, but its lacks any appeal and effect.
