This was an incredibly orchestrated film.

A]lthough the lead character's arc remains troubled and conflicted, the ending makes her seem more like a superhero than the material

A great entertaining movie. The main character is portrayed well and she is able to show how her wit helps her survive although being quite vulnerable. A lot of action too.

I absolutely live this movie. my mom and grandma loved it too. it was realistic. it was so extremely gripping that every time my brother would come out of his room we would all yell at him so we can watch the movie. amazing character development. strong movie. kind like a whole telenovela in a movie. never got boring always on your toes.

Initially I thought this movie was probably going to suck, just by reading the synopsis and looking at the critics' reviews. From previous experience, I learned that the critics' reviews are often wildly out of touch with those of the general audience. So I thought I'd give this movie a watch anyway. I am glad that I did. Gina Rodriguez did a great job. Overall, I think the acting was good. The storyline and plot are not perfect, as there were multiple holes, but they are still ok. The action scenes are decent. Overall, this is a good and watchable movie. It was entertaining from the beginning till the end. Although the ending was a little bit out there and a tad unrealistic, I still liked the movie as a whole. Good job.

I mean..Its an exciting and fun movie. Mostly what builds it up is Gina rodriguez who kills any role she plays. The movie itself is somewhat unrealistic and dry, but id recommend it because I found it exciting. The ending is sort of unrealistic but also what makes it empowering and girlbossy.

Had to create an account here just to give this movie a 5 star review. Made my night.

Gina Rodriguez stars as a California resident who travels to Tijuana to visit her friend who will be entering the Miss Bala pageant. Things go bad when gunmen shoot up a club they were in and her friend goes missing. She is then forced to help the criminals if she wants to see her friend again. Decent, though at times, far fetched, but Rodriguez plays the lead with believable strength and ingenuity.

I would like to be supportive of women filmmakers by going to the movie theater and spending money on an admission ticket. Miss Bala is directed by Catherine Hardwicke. Her previous films include Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown. Those two movies are entertaining and well-made. This movie is a disappointment in comparison.
