Amazing performances, amazing script, and an amazing experience all about a very real and amazing woman. A good picture of how good, fact-based, logical solutions can be turned political by those whose power and money are challenged by them.

Inspirational movie. I'm not certain if this movie was based on a true story, but the narrative rings true. Millions of low-income children attending subpar public schools that provide little hope. An education should be uplifting and should prepare its deserving students a quality education. Quite often, the parents have to fight for this right against a bureaucratic system that is at a halt for change. In this movie, we see a trailblazer of a parent, Virginia, who decides to defend not only her son's right to a quality education, but who becomes an advocate in Washington, DC. So if you care about the education of Americans, watch this film.

With most films that I see, I'm happy to share all the tiniest details of the movie that I didn't like. That's even if I liked the movie. There's always things to criticize with almost any movie. Even a good one. This movie is far from an exception. It's a low budget drama and all that comes with it. The acting and the writing many times is a bit reminiscent of a poorly constructed after school special And I wouldn't expect anything different from such a low budget film that is so not Hollywood as this one is. What I didn't expect was to be moved in the way I was. And so I'd rather focus on what's good about this movie and not what's bad. Despite it's imperfections I am so happy I watched it. I will admit that I was an advocate for school choice before I saw this movie and so I am biased when it comes to it's message but if a movie sucks, it's going to suck no matter the message. If you can stick it out through it's imperfections, this movie doesn't suck. I cried more from this movie than possibly any movie I've ever watched. The ingredients that went into it may have been MacDonald's grade but I walked away feeling like I ate a 5 star meal in an upscale restaurant. It would be great if some big name director redid this story in a Will Smith's "Pursuit of Happiness" fashion with a big budget and A-list actors. If that doesn't happen I'm very glad this wonderful small budget movie exists. I hope millions watch this movie and understand how important this story is and I pray the country eventually reflects that understanding.

Deeply moving account of a mother's struggle to provide educational opportunities for her son in the face of indifference and hostile vested interests. Marvelous performances by Uzo Aduba and supporting actors.

A testament to the will & strength of people come together in support of a worthy cause. Even if counted out this movie shows that initiative and determination can overthrow any setup by government, unseen enemies, or otherwise

It's an actually inspiring movie about a real-life hero. No CGI heroes here.
