Money Plane

In the history of dumb ideas, few have been stupider than the Money Plane.

...a fun setup that's employed to pervasively (and persistently) lackluster effect...

This is no smarmy, meta-exercise in self-mockery, but rather a feat of genuine incompetence. It comes by its crappiness honestly.

It isn't good, exactly and it's notably cheap-looking. But I still had a smile on my face for large parts of it.

The heist plan makes no sense, the action is sporadic and listless, the dialogue is full of macho nonsense, and the set where most of the movie was shot only vaguely resembles the interior of a plane.

Almost a guilty pleasure, this heist movie benefits a bit from an "I don't care" attitude, but unfortunately it's crushed under too many dumb cliches, terrible writing, and general boredom.

Look, I do not object to the fact that Money Plane is trying to be the most self-consciously dopey movie of recent memory. What I object to is that the whole thing is too stupid and lazy to accomplish even that not-exactly-lofty goal.

[T]he filmmakers have made a laughable movie and didn't think to laugh at themselves.

"Money Plane" doesn't deliver where it counts the most, but there's an idea here that holds potential, gifting the endeavor an entertaining dark side.

This feels like a throwback to the best cheesy 90s action movies. Sometimes, all your movie needs to be is pure dumb fun and Money Plane is exactly that.
