Much of the movie, and Hester's storyline, has similar plot points Luke Skywalker's journey, which meant the plot was a little predictable. A very simple set-up of good and evil, right from the start. A couple surprises (like the Shrike story, and the lack of physical affection between the main pair of characters), and Hugo Weaving is always great.

I always find it interesting that films that convey a bit of criticism of the system come off badly with film critics for completely different reasons. I think the motif of a mobile City of London is fantastic. As I haven't read the book that was made into a movie, I'm sure it goes back to the novel. This image alone of a beast stamping and milling through the landscape, like this mobile City of London, is simply brilliant. It describes so precisely what is generally referred to today as predatory capitalism and what the City of London stands for like nothing else on this earth. On board the monster, power struggles rage that decisively steer the course of the plot. Personal motivations, family ties, revenge, love, futuristic weapons from the past - we experience all of this on this wild ride that combines steampunk with a cataclysmic vision of the future. In my view, not only really worth seeing, but also worth thinking a little about the images conveyed.

Watched with a couple of friends and we all thought it was great. The critics and many watchers found it lacking in numerous areas. I found it very entertaining and that is my only criteria as to how I rate movies. Analysis just gets the way of enjoyment for movies like this.

Not good. Acting is awful, writing is terrible, and generic story. You do not feel connected to the story or any of the characters. The only positive thing is there are a good amount of world building shots throughout the movie.

It was pretty cheesy and had some far fetched ideas. However, overall it was a exciting, feel good movie. Would recommend if you don't have anything else great to watch.

I don't know if we all saw the same movie... Sure it could have been much better but its still visually pleasing and the story/message/ soul its there. My only issue is that I wish everything happened in the span of three movies and a lot of things happened in between hahahhaha!

Some good parts. Not boring. Nothing too original. Kind of Mad Max-ish.

Awesome movie. I can't believe people give it such bad reviews.

An all around great movie although the prologue doesn't give anywhere near enough context and can have viewers wondering.

Well at least visually it looked stunning and had an interesting world......the rest of the movie however is so rushed that this film would have been better off as a series then a movie.
